22,000 Page Views and Questions

Fri Jul 10, 2009, 8:21 AM
Well all,

its been a while since I updated my journal thanks to the fact that both life, school, and the Navy have been keeping me busy. As I'm sure you all have noticed, my artistic attention has recently turned to updating the Perception's engines but with the 3.1 update I feel I have reached a place where I am satisfied with the look and feel of the design. I appreciate everyone's feedback and patience as my mind works through so many weird ideas.

I would like to also thank EVERYONE for making 22,000 page views possible. This is a huge thing for me. It was literally just 3 months ago today that I was shouting about 12,000 page views and I had been up on deviant art for nearly a year. Keep up all this love and I might start to get a big head. ;) No, in all reality I am truly humbled and excited that you all enjoy my work and I am always grateful for the insight you as fellow artists provide. All of you continue to be both an inspiration and a source of fantastic feedback.

Onto questions.

Firstly. I want to do a little impromptu poll: Which Bussard Color do you like more? Blue or Orange? (these are based on the More JJ Engine 3.0 and 3.1) Please submit your answers below at the end of whatever else you say in the following format:

ENGINE: *Answer*

Secondly, I was interested to know what part's of Perception people would most be interesting in seeing deckplan/cutaway wise. I know now that given the scope of this ship I will never be able to complete a full set of deck plans (though i will likely try and spend the next 2 years working on it), but I also plan to do a cutaway and will provide some elements of the ship at higher resolution. I think, this time, i will also try to do the cutaway in color. Anyways, what do you all want to see. Put your answer at the bottom of your response, below the ENGINE section in the format below:

INSIDE: *list*

Thirdly, I was wondering if there was interest in my working on a podcast of designing star trek. I might try to make it a video podcast in order to provide visuals to go along with my work, etc. Its up to you all. Provide your answer at the bottom of your response below ENGINE and INSIDE in the format below:

PODCAST *yes or no and maybe Why?*

Thanks all. I hope everyone is having a great Friday and getting ready to enjoy the weekend. I will be quite busy this weekend so I don't know how much more I will be able to do. Thanks again for following me and I look forward to hearing back from you all.

I must say you have a lovely collection of fan-made starships of Star Trek fidelity.

I was asking out of curiosity: I saw an illustration of the Excalibur-class starship in STAR TREK ONLINE. Do you have any intentions of making that starship to your liking.

It'd be interesting to see a Constitution-like starship with Sovereign nacelles, in more detail.
Hmm, I'm actually not a big fan of anything that Cryptic has put out. There designs lack innovation, creativity, and are a bit boxy for my taste. I mean. I've been labeled for copying the sovereign with the Perception. But their "flagship" is literally the sovereign with some weird extensions.

As for their "Excalibur." I'm not sure if the Connie form factor really fits in the 25th century. Everything we've seen has been a movement to more streamlined vessels. We will have to see what I cook up though. My brain is always swimming with concepts. Probably too much for my own good.
Can't wait to see more!
Very good designs
